Tax Planning
& Advisory
A tax plan built on the decisions ahead of you, not the return behind you. Quarterly estimate resets, year-end scenario modeling, and a filing that confirms the plan.

The tax bill is set when you decide,
not when you file.
Buy the equipment in December or January. Take the distribution before the entity change or after. Sell this year or next. Each choice carries a tax cost that locks in the moment you act, and by filing season it is already history. Cooper Norman puts the numbers in front of the decision: modeled scenarios, entity and multi-state analysis, and estimates that track the year you are actually having.
- Multi-state tax planning and nexus review
- Entity structure evaluation with modeled scenarios
- Owner compensation and distribution timing
- Quarterly estimates tied to actual results
- Transition and sale scenario modeling

The engagement runs on a calendar, not a deadline. The work lands quarterly, at year end, and at filing, before each window closes.

Frequently
asked
questions
What does a tax planning engagement produce?
A written plan for the year, modeled scenarios for the decisions in front of you, and quarterly estimates updated against actual results. The return at filing confirms the plan; it is not the deliverable.
What happens quarterly versus at year end?
Quarterly, we review actual results and reset your estimates so payments track the year you are actually having. At year end, we model the moves still open to you, timing of income and purchases, distributions, and entity questions, while there is still time to act. At filing, we prepare the return from a plan you have watched all year.
Who does the planning work?
The same connected team that files your return. Our bench holds CPA, MAcc, EA, and PFS credentials and has been planning for business owners since 1954, so the planning conversation and the filing never lose each other.
What decisions should trigger a planning conversation?
Buying or selling equipment or property, changing entity structure, adding an owner or a state, a strong year that will move your bracket, or any step toward transition or sale. If the decision has a dollar figure attached, the tax lens belongs on it before you act.
Do you work across state lines?
Yes. We plan from six offices across Idaho and Utah: Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Blackfoot, Rexburg, Twin Falls, and Pleasant Grove. Multi-state planning and nexus review are standing parts of the work, because our clients' operations do not stop at the border.
How does the first conversation work?
Bring the decision. We will bring the numbers. On the first call we map your entity, your states, your owners, and the moves ahead, then set scope and timing before the engagement begins. If a deadline is close, say so. The calendar drives everything we do.
