Why Kolbe and Working Genius

Strong teams do not happen by accident. They happen when each person spends most of the day on work that fits how they naturally think and act. Kolbe and Working Genius are two assessment tools that make those natural strengths visible, so leaders can assign work with confidence instead of guesswork.

The Working Genius model

Developed by Patrick Lencioni, the Working Genius model sorts work into six areas: Wonder, Discernment, Galvanizing, Enablement, Tenacity, and Implementation. Certain kinds of work energize each person, and other kinds drain them. When leaders know the mix on their team, they can match people to the stages of work where they do their best.

Our certified team members received hands-on training from The Table Group, the firm behind the model. We use it for leadership coaching, job alignment, team cohesion, and building a common language so everyone knows who owns each stage of the work.

The Kolbe Indexes

Kolbe measures a different layer: instinct. The indexes show how each person naturally takes action and solves problems. When tasks line up with those instincts, work moves faster, communication improves, and people stay engaged because they get to work the way they are wired to work.

What the coaching includes

Every engagement starts with assessments and ends with a plan your team can act on.

Assessments and workshops

  • Kolbe assessments: individual and team indexes that identify natural problem-solving strengths.
  • Working Genius assessments: a clear picture of which types of work energize each person on your team.
  • Interactive workshops: hands-on sessions where your team learns to read the results and apply them to real work.

Customized consulting

Assessment results are the starting point, not the finish line. We build coaching around your goals:

  • Team building: programs that improve cohesion and day-to-day performance.
  • Leadership training: helping leaders put each person's strengths to work.
  • Conflict resolution: working through friction by understanding different instincts and working styles.
  • Change management: support for teams moving through growth, succession, or reorganization.

Why Cooper Norman

We use these tools inside our own firm, and that experience shapes how we teach them. Our coaches are Kolbe Certified Consultants and Working Genius Certified Facilitators, and every engagement is built around your team and what you are trying to accomplish.
